

Children from year 6 visited South Tyneside Fire Station RAP event to learn about staying safe.
As the majority of accidents experienced by 10 and 11 year old children happen at play and on the roads. The aims of RAP are;

Maths
In maths this half term we have been focusing on place value and problem solving. We have used apparatus to determine the value of digits in a number and we have been solving problems involving shape.
English
In English, we have been exploring the book ‘Mysterious Traveller’ by Mal Peet. We have discussed characters and setting and have carried about role play activities involving learning a text map and using a green screen for interviewing characters based on the main events from the story.
Art Project
Recently, Year 6 took part in an Art project with ‘The Creative Seed’ to produce an outdoor event that will take place as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations at The Customs House. We were invited to take part in a workshop where we created a series of decorative flags that evoke memories of the past 25 years of The Customs House.
